Facebook’s Copyright Hoax
Did you hear that Facebook is claiming ownership of all content you post to the site?
It's a hoax. A message circulating this week claimed that in a recent update to Facebook's "governing documents," the site assumed copyright on your text, photos, videos, and whatever else appears in your timeline.
Facebook quickly debunked the claim. We quote their response in full:
There is a rumor circulating that Facebook is making a change related to ownership of users' information or the content they post to the site. This is false. Anyone who uses Facebook owns and controls the content and information they post, as stated in our terms. They control how that content and information is shared. That is our policy, and it always has been.
The rumor may have been started by privacy campaigners.
